Equivalences obligatoires

Introduction:

When is a decision of equivalence unsatisfactory?

• If the equivalence decision does not give the expected result: you cannot start the desired studies.

• If the equivalence decision indicates that your certificate has no correspondence in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

Reasons:

1. You have not completed your secondary education and the equivalence does not give the anticipated result.

What can you do?

a) Equivalence is not the only way to obtain a certificate in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation:

You can sit examinations before the jury of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to obtain:

•  CE1D  (certificate of 1st degree education)

• CE2D  (certificate of 2nd degree education)

• CESS (certificate of higher secondary education)

2. You have completed your secondary education and the equivalence does not give you access to the desired higher education.

You can sit the aptitude test for higher education (DAES) organised by the French Community. Passing this test will allow you to remove all the restrictions in the equivalence decision and to access any type of higher education

3. You have completed your secondary studies and your certificate is not recognised as equivalent to the CESS

Equivalence is not the only way to obtain a certificate in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation:

• You can sit examinations before the jury of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation to obtain the CESS (certificate of higher secondary education). For paramedical education, (graduate and patented nurse), you can sit the tests organised by the jury of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

• You can enrol in an institution to complete your secondary education in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

• You can sit the admission test organised by the Universities or Colleges of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
